SpongeBob SquarePants is created by Stephen Hillenburg and produced by Nickelodeon in
Burbank, Calif. The character-driven cartoon chronicles the nautical and sometimes nonsensical adventures of SpongeBob, an incurably optimist and earnest sea sponge, and his undersea friends. The Broadway production of The SpongeBob Musical earned its place on 2017’s “Best of Broadway” lists including Broadway.com, BuzzFeed, The Chicago Tribune, The Daily Beast, Deadline, ET Online, Forbes, Time Out New York and Variety. The SpongeBob Musical was named Best Musical by the Drama Desk Awards and Outer Critics Circle and earned 12 Tony Award nominations – the most nominated musical of the 2017-2018 theatre season – winning for Best Scenic Design of a Musical (David Zinn).

All those auditioning should come prepared to sing a short song of your choosing - whatever shows
off those pipes! You are not required to sing something from the show, but can if you would like. You are allowed to bring pre-recorded background music for your audition on your phone or other device if you would like. We will NOT have an
accompanist at the auditions.

Please be aware that most rehearsals will be held on Tuesday and Thursday nights and Saturdays 9 - 12. Note any conflicts you might have on your audition form. Thank you!

Also be aware (especially parents of young children) that the week prior to the show, "Tech Week" we will hold rehearsals all day Sunday, and every week-day leading up to Friday nights show. We usually try to have 1 night off. These rehearsals usually begin around 5 and can go as late as 10 pm. It is a long and exhausting week, and all cast members are required to attend.

Please print out and fill in the audition form located HERE if possible. This will cut down on time the day of auditions. We will also have forms available to fill out on the day of.  Please read over the Participation policies located on our Policies tab.

We will be collecting participation fees during auditions and at the first rehearsal. Checks can be made payable to: Hubbardston Community Theatre, Inc., or paid via Venmo.

We will also be conducting CORI/SORI checks during the first couple of weeks of rehearsals, so if you are over 18 and plan to be in the cast OR be a volunteer please come prepared with your license. Please bring a photocopy of the front and back with you if possible.
